Review: The West Wing: Complete Series
Warner delivers The West Wing: Complete Series set to Blu-ray for the first time ever!
The West Wing ventured where no other TV series had gone before: an extraordinarily intimate look at an American President and the inner workings of the White House. Experience all the crises, triumphs, lofty idealism and hard realities of the acclaimed series that won 26 Emmys, including 4 for Outstanding Drama Series.
Spanning across 28 BD-50’s lives all 158 episodes of the popular hit tv series that ran from the late ‘90s to the early 2000’s.
This set is an absolute treasure to collect for fans of the popular series that takes place inside the walls of the white house.
You can order it now by clicking here.
The Complete series is separated into multi-disc cases that go inside of box sleeve insert. Inside contains a booklet with all of the special features. See our unboxing video on YouTube this week for a special look at the packaging!
In the first case are seasons 1-4 and in the second case are seasons 5-7. Keep in mind, all the discs are region free which allows you to watch in any country.
The HD remastered set is a significant upgrade in both picture quality and sound from the DVD set. Sometimes transfers of tv shows from the 90s have a fade to them, but not The West Wing! Shot on 35MM film it shows - the quality instantly as stunning! It’s even better than how it looked on MAX!
The West Wing has a lot of movement in and out of hallways and just constantly move that which in and out of itself one would think the audio may have some issues. Wrong! This audio is freaking crisp! It’s so well mixed that I would have thought it was recorded just recently. It’s a DTS-HD MA 2.0 audio track. The audio is well balanced from the music to the dialogue and my speakers triumphantly carried it’s theme song every episode.
I am a huge fan of complete series sets because they usually contain a ton of bonus features for more popular series such as The West Wing and in that department - they have a massive amount of bonus features!
Starting with audio commentaries on multiple episodes and behind-the-scenes looks at how certain scenes in specific episodes were made. A complete breakdown by disc and season are listed below.
Again, on YouTube we will be diving more into the packaging.
This is a superb 10/10 from Warner and mind you we only we review titles we like. We’re not going to send out a substack if we’re not personally fans of it.
I loved this set as much as I loved the Succession set. A personal favorite of mine was the booklet that acted as a guide for the episodes and bonus content - again watch YouTube this week to see what that looks like!
