REVIEW: Flow on 4k UHD from Curzon
Curzon delivers an immaculate 4k UHD for FLOW! BD-100 disc with razor sharp picture and sound!!
Alright, now that the 4th of July BBQs are over and everybody is back from their yacht trips its now time to get back to review business as usual!
As I was was sunning myself on the yacht, I got a global alert the Flow on 4k UHD had arrived fresh from overseas!
Here we have the Oscar-Winning Animated film “Flow” - seen for the first time ever on 4k UHD.
I’ve never received a Curzon release before, but I must say this was a 10/10 from inside and out.
The 4k disc is on a region free BD-100 and includes a region locked BD-50.
The 4k with Dolby Vision contains the original DTS 7.1 and 2 track mono mixes.
Both sound terrific with the 7.1 being my go-to.
But before we begin with the quality of picture and sound - let’s start with packaging.
So you get the digipak - which is firmly made and holds the discs well.
Then you get a collectible booklet that contains BTS interviews and various imagery of the film - it’s like a 60 page booklet.
Then you get a foldout poster of the film - collectible trading character cards and a set of Flow character’s stickers.
They truly did go all out on the packaging here! I was continuously unfolding more and more to see what more there was - I love surprises!
Ah okay, now onto picture and sound - what you all care most about.
This 4k transfer contains Dolby Vision and looks absolutely stunning and cirsp - so stunning that streaming could not capture her and if she was blindfolder.
The picture is so sharp and vivid - my cat was even glued to the screen with this 4k. She couldn’t believe how sharp all the details were and neither could I.
I mean I knew from watching it in theaters - a 4k BD-100 disc would make this film look immaculate and WOW - IT DID!!!!
Now, you all know I hate DTS mixes - ick! But this one being a 7.1 got me WOW! It sounded like a Dolby Atmos track - truthfully - it packs that much of A PUNCH!
From that animal sound effects to traveling on water to action sequences - the mix just truly engulfs you into the nature aspects of the film. It felt so real - I was again blow again. I never had to adjust volumes - this mix was balanced well and sounded terrific!
Hurry up import this release - don’t wait — get it ASAP! You won’t regret this disc and you definitely won’t regret the set!
Cat is a solitary animal, but as its home is devastated by a great flood, they find refuge on a boat populated by various species, and will have to team up with them despite their differences.
